2008 Celebrity Weddings

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Who was your favorite celebrity couple of 2008 to tie the knot??? Mine was Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi, who married on August 16th, 2008. Ellen and Portia were both dressed in Zac Posen and exchanged Neil Lane rings. Both looked ahhhhmazing! I recently read that they celebrate their nuptials with a monthly anniversary! Now why didn’t I think of that? Congrats to the beautiful ladies on their 2008 wedding!

Who was your favorite 2008 celebrity wedding??? Scarlett Johanson & Ryan Reynolds (09/27/08), Beth Ostrosky & Howard Stern (10/03/08), Jewel & Ty Murray (08/07/08), Jessica Alba & Cash Warren (05/19/08), Charlie Sheen & Brooke Allen (05/30/08) or perhaps Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt, married 11/20/08???

Words have never been truer…one of my personal favorites!

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren’t old enough and we’ll be more content when they are. After that we’re frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with, we will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.

We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire. The truth is there’s no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It’s best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. One of my favorite quotes comes from Alfred D Souza.

He said, “For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.

This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way, so, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time…and remember that time waits for no one.

So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you’ve had a drink, until you’ve sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy…Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

So…Work like you don’t need money. Love like you’ve never been hurt and Dance like no one’s watching.

…I WANT a bolero! You see, I remember the old school bolero’s that were more of the country western tassel kind. These beautiful romantic bolero’s from Bonzie are a fabulous way to really glam up your wedding day look!

You might remember the look below from a post I did a while back about Topsy Turvy. Bonzie collaborated with Topsy Turvy to create this look for a photo shoot by Kate O’Brien. Kate O’Brien is one of my new favorites…you MUST check out her portfolio…UNBELIEVABLE.

To see more of Bonzie’s designs, be sure to check out their blog! Here are some of my favorites…

My Obsession with Hair Products…and Jennifer Aniston’s Hair!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I am one of those people who still thinks that one day I am going to find the magical shampoo & conditioner that will give me thick, beautiful, long hair….a la Jennifer Aniston! I am not kidding…every time I get my hair done, I bring in a picture of Jennifer Aniston’s hair. I even wanted my hair done like her’s (when she married Brad Pitt) on my wedding day! I guess I am not alone since I just came across a website dedicated to Jennifer Aniston Hairstyles!!! But in all seriousness, I wanted to tell you about Kerastase Hair Products. I have tried just about EVERY shampoo & conditioner known to man and Kerastase products are awesome! My absolute favorites are the Bain Miroir Shampoo and I use the Ciment Anti-Usure conditioner daily. I also use the Cement Thermique leave-in heat activated reconstructor. If you are growing your hair out and/or are trying to get your hair in tip top shape before your wedding, try Kerastase! These products are a bit pricey, but worth every penny! I have no idea what hair products Jennifer Aniston uses, but now that I know who her hair stylist is…I am taking donations for the $500 haircut….lol.
