Custom Wedding Invitation Suite by Melangerie

Monday, October 13th, 2008

These custom save the dates and invitations were designed by one of my favorites, Melangerie!

Kris & Gabe were married in Providence, Rhode Island at a 1920’s era casino.

For the couple’s “save the date’s”, Melangerie used imagery from a vintage postcard of the bride and groom’s event location. The front of the card features a vintage illustration of the casino, and the back includes original postage marks from the vintage piece. They added event information to the back of the postcard in classic, archived typefaces for a charming yet easy to produce save the date card.

For the wedding invitation, they designed their “monogram” and invitations to reflect a deco-modern vibe, and gave an additional nod to the venue by referencing playing cards in the invite’s construction.

These are just so insanely awesome and original that I just had to share! Enjoy!

Beach Destination Wedding {Details}

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

I think these may just be the best favors/details I have seen yet for a beach-themed wedding (nothing against blue or sand dollars)! These are from a Cabo destination wedding featured on The Knot. Parasols were provided to guests for shade during the beach ceremony, fresh white towels to dust off the sand on their feet, candles had facts about the couple wrapped around them and were tied with ribbon, empty glass bottles were left with pieces of paper for guests to write messages to the happy couple and place in the bottles, burlap bags were filled with goodies for all of the guests, and to finish it off…they had maracas engraved with the guests names at each place setting. Perfection. All photos by Paperwhites Photography.

Vampy Victorian…Bride?

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

I’ve noticed a new trend recently where brides are wearing beautiful jeweled feather hairclips and glamorous birdcage veils during their ceremonies and then changing to top hats and capes to do impromtu costumey wedding photo shoots before the reception. What an awesome idea if you can allow for the time. I stumbled across Topsy Turvy Design today while on Etsy, and they have some amazing items. If not for your wedding day, certainly for your Marie Antoinette Tea Party!

Lavish Tea Party {Marie Antoinette Style}

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I have never wanted to have a tea party more than when I came across this beautiful “Marie Antoinette” inspired tea party designed by Melangerie Inc. Each guest received a vintage tea cup favor packaged with flowering tea and a booklet of tidbits on tea etiquette. The favors were wrapped in boxes with beautiful brocade ribbons and awaited guests at their seats. Melangerie Inc. also created place settings adorned with menus fashioned from doilies and place cards made of live garden roses.

Melangerie Inc. can help design everything for you, from a gorgeous invitation, favor, or event detail to a whole wedding identity and accompanying paperie suite! Just need some design advice or gift consulting? Melangerie Inc. is also available for an hourly rate! I am ready to go put on some white gloves (if I had them) and have an imaginary tea party right now! Stay tuned…more fabulous Melangerie designs coming soon!

I just had to post a big fat CONGRATULATIONS to my dear friends who got married today in NJ. It BrEaKs my heart that we could not make it out for their special day. Just wanted them to know they were in our thoughts all day today! Hopefully I will have some pics from their wedding to post for you all when they get back from their honeymoon. Here are a couple pics of my favorite biznatchie (a word I learned from the bride while living in NYC) and her wonderful now husband from my wedding! Wow, it has been quite an eventful weekend!

Introducing Kayden Cash Morgan

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Another one of my best friends just had her baby boy last night at 8:08pm. Kayden Cash weighed in at 5lbs and 11oz and is 19in long. He is going to be tall just like his mom & dad! I had to brag…AGAIN! :)

Popping the Question(s) with Jennifer

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Because I think my friend Michelle is such an awesome writer, I asked her to help me introduce myself to the Bridal Inquirer readers! Here is what she came up with…Enjoy!!!

Popping the Question(s) with Jennifer

Even though I’m a single girl living in Los Angeles, the institution of marriage is nothing new to me. I’ve attended several weddings, including the gorgeous post-ceremony soiree of this blogger—Jennifer. I’ve stood alongside girlfriends on their special day in way-too-expensive dresses. (Note to future brides-to-be: Buttercup is NOT a flattering shade for anyone.) I’ve lined up wedding photographers and invite designers for close friends and relatives. I even once deejayed a friend’s wedding reception. (I had 60-year-olds dancing to 50 Cent.) And while I am in no hurry to get hitched, I must say that after perusing Jennifer’s website, bridalinquirer.com, I found it to be both charming and informative. If, one day, the planets align, and I manage to snag a cute, smart, funny, tall, music-loving guy, I would definitely consult her site for advice on planning our nuptials, as well as the oh-so-fabulous after-party.

Recently, I caught up with Jennifer and asked her to share a few tidbits about love and marriage.

Love / Romance…

Who’s your absolute fave celebrity couple? hhhmmmmm, in true “me” form, the first people that came to mind are all of the couples that annoy me! ha ha…For cuteness factor, I would say Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. But I hope to follow in the footsteps of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. I  just love that his response as to why he was always faithful to Joanne was “I have steak at home, why would I go out for a hamburger”? He will be missed.

Not that you’re into chick-flicks or anything, but if you were—what is your all-time favorite romance film? I do LOVE me some chick-flicks! One of my all-time favorites is Love Actually.  I am not a big fan of the old school Gone With the Wind type movies.

What are the three things you love most about your husband, Chris? 1. He knows EVERYTHING about me and still loves me. 2. He spoils me 3. He truly is my best friend.

Weddings…

[Fill in the blanks]
Something old: Chris (my hubby) ha ha, j/k
Something new: Bridal Inquirer!!!
Something borrowed: Michelle’s writing skills for this post!
Something blue: Chris’s eyes

Favorite reception song to get ‘em out on the floor:
(Note: At YOUR wedding, I thought Toto’s “Africa” was a nice, unexpected touch!) Ha!!! You wouldn’t believe what a HIT that song was at our wedding. Otherwise, any old Michael Jackson will do!

Tackiest wedding gift either you or a friend received: My mom still talks about a wicker rooster/chicken someone gave her and my dad…lol. We did get a re-gift though!

And lastly…

What are the best ‘three little words’ your husband can say to you? Candy, Cookie, Ice Cream? :) ha ha, kidding. I love when he says, “I miss you” when we just left each other in the morning for work.
