Committed

Committed

A few months ago, I was sent a complimentary copy of  Elizabeth Gilbert’s book “Committed”. I have to admit that I had heard all of the hoopla about her previous book “Eat, Pray, Love” but never really had any interest in reading it until I saw the previews of the movie being made featuring Julia Roberts. I am sad to admit that I do not get around to enjoying a good book too often. When I lived in NYC, I used to relish reading books on the subway to and from work (of course unless there was some really good entertainment walking through the carts). I read more books in my year and a half in NYC than I have in my entire lifetime being a CA native. So when I finally got around to opening my new book, I started with the Note to Readers. I was immediately hooked. I am going out today to purchase “Eat, Pray, Love” so I can start her journey from the beginning.

I loved loved loved “Eat, Pray, Love”. I could not put it down! I want to read Committed but haven’t gotten around to buying yet. I’m excited for the movie, I think Julia Roberts will play the role really well. :)

I’ve read both books. “Eat, Pray, Love” is in my top 5 all-time favorite books – and it’s difficult to make it into my top five. I think it’s a must-read for every woman. I’ve given multiple copies to friends and family members. I was extremely excited when I found out another book by this author was coming out, and I bought it immediately and read it within a week. “Committed” is completely different from “Eat, Pray, Love” so it’s not really fair to compare the two. Let’s just say that “Committed” isn’t in my top 5 or top 10….but I’m glad that I read it.

BTW, I can completely relate to your post. I lived in Brooklyn for 5 years, and I read all the time on the subway rides to and from school and to and from work. Now, I only read before bed…unless I just can’t put the book down. I hope you enjoy your books!

My fiance and I have both read “Eat, Love, Pray” together and we just loved the journey that Gilbert took us through…very powerful book and woman. We are now reading “Committed” and like April said it is different from “Eat, Pray, Love” but still a good read….but we’re still reading it!
