I am such a fan of these adorable diy tin can floral arrangements!!! If we ever get our house, you can bet I am going to have these lining my housewarming dinner party table! This adorable dessert table featured homemade treats made with love from the brides grandma as well as cupcakes made from a friend who was a baker. The lemon bars and cake were from Azucar, here in San Diego. The vintage doors and shutters on the dessert bar and escort card table were a perfect backdrop and such a charming touch! Thanks to Carter & Cook Event Co for sharing this sweet treat with us on their blog. Flower Girl Pinafore {Beautiful DIY Idea}

When choosing which table linen to use, take your flower girl’s height into account. A taller child will require a table runner; a shorter one may only need a place mat. Semitransparent fabric such as this linen allows petals to show through. Wide ribbon that complements your decor looks prettiest.

Flower Girl Pinafore How-To:

1. Fold the linen in half end to end. Cut a ribbon long enough to encircle the waist and tie in the back; slip it into the fold. Tack the ribbon to both ends with a needle and thread.

2. Fold the front piece of the linen up so that the end meets the fold with the ribbon in it (effectively halving the top layer, making a pocket). Sew the pocket in place along both sides with a needle and thread.

3. Fill the pocket to the brim with colorful petals before tying the apron around your flower girl’s waist.

Original purpose: Organizing your papers.
Aha! use: Letting guests locate their tables in a creative way. Clip a miniature clothespin to the bottom of each paper to create the base for a rustic escort card display.
Reward: Pinning down your table assignment.

Serve Appetizers on Cake Stands

Original purpose: Showcasing a lemon Bundt triumph.
Aha! use: Serving appetizers. Have your caterer stack a small cake stand on top of a larger one to increase your surface area for canapés or crudités and free up precious table space.
Reward: No waiting time for hors d’oeuvres.

Upgrade Basic White Shoes With Clip-on Earrings

Original purpose: The finishing touch when you played dress-up in Grandma’s closet.
Aha! use: Channel Grandma’s style and update plain white wedding shoes with a funky pair of clip-on earrings. Attach them to the shoes at the center (or slightly off center), and let your fancy footwork peek out from under your gown.
Reward: Bejeweled shoes that can change with your mood.

I don’t even know where I found this image, so if it is yours, please let me know so I can give you credit! I have had this on my desktop for months. For some reason it makes me happy. It also makes me break out in song…”I WANT CANDY”…bah bah…which I now sing to my cat quite often. Was that tmi??? Anywho…since sugar candy/rock candy comes in so many fun colors, there has to be a way to incorporate these into your wedding or bridal shower somewhere, right??? I was thinking of maybe placing one on each place setting with a sweet note??? Ideas???
