Makeup Primer Review!

January 3rd, 2010

Primers

{clockwise: 1. Smashbox Photo Finish Light 2. Sephora Smoothing Primer 3. Philosophy The Present}

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you will know that I have been on the hunt for a makeup primer. This new obsession happened when I stopped by the Philosophy counter one day. I had never tried any of their products, but the girl at the counter had the most amazing skin I had ever seen! She introduced me to The Present, which is clear makeup (or a primer). I am quite shocked that I didn’t buy it that day, especially after I tried it on the back of my hand and loved how smooth and matte it looked. When I got home I read all the reviews on Sephora.com and decided I HAD to have it. I also bought a small trial size of the Smashbox Photo Finish Light and added the free sample of the Sephora Smoothing Primer. Here are the results:

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Light-This ended up being my favorite of the three. It is SO much lighter than Philosophy….I guess because it is made of 60% water. My makeup goes on smooth and I am pretty happy with the results.

2. Sephora Smoothing Primer-I actually ended up really liking this one, especially when I looked at the price difference between it and the Smashbox primer. It was very light too, which I liked.

3. Philosophy’s The Present-Surprisingly, this ended up being my least fave (of course the one that started it all and the one I bought the full size of)! It is SUPER thick and even when I let it dry completely, my makeup just did not go on smoothly and made me end up feeling oily with splotchy makeup. Very disappointing. I guess I will keep using this on my hands only!

In conclusion, that girl at the makeup counter was probably half my age and was born with gorgeous skin…lol.

EDIT: I found this beautiful drawing of this girl on polyvore and have been searching and searching the internet for who drew it because I just love it so. I found out it is an artist named Danny Roberts who is in CA!!! His art is UNBELIEVABLE! Please stop by his blog. I am DYING to be included in his blogger portraits.

Featured on “She Just Got Married”

December 28th, 2009

Check out Bridal Inquirer on the “She Just Knows How” segment of She Just Got Married!!!

One of the things I love most about being a part of the wedding and post wedding industry is the amazing women who dedicate their time and talent to share their first hand knowledge and offer ideas that can help brides to be who are just beginning the process of creating their dream day.

A fav site of mine is Bridal Inquirer (with the great tag line “What Inquiring Brides Want To Know”…..LOVE IT!)

She planned her own wedding in four months on a $15k budget and LOVED every minute of it! So what does a girl do once her day is over? What else….she creates her own website in hopes of inspiring and helping other brides (specifically in the San Diego area). And yes….she’s a California girl but the tools she provides on her site are so useful to any bride…anywhere!

With the online Budget Planning tool you can manage your wedding expenses by using the Bridal Inquirer wedding budget tracker.

Create and manage your wedding guest list as well as all other wedding related parties, such as your bridal shower, rehearsal dinner and more with this tool. Just click the “add” button and select the events that each person should be invited to.

Got an inquiring mind….and want to know more? You’ll just have to check it out for yourself. =)

Yeah…..she definitely qualifies for “She Just Knows How!

{She Just got Married is an online community where you can connect with a growing circle of friends to share, discover, express, question, and exchange ideas that will explore every aspect of your new life as a newlywed. Be sure and stop by and check out She Just Got Married and Discover the YOU after I Do!}
