Display Escort Cards With Miniature Clothespins

Original purpose: Organizing your papers.
Aha! use: Letting guests locate their tables in a creative way. Clip a miniature clothespin to the bottom of each paper to create the base for a rustic escort card display.
Reward: Pinning down your table assignment.

Appetizers on a tiered stand

Serve Appetizers on Cake Stands

Original purpose: Showcasing a lemon Bundt triumph.
Aha! use: Serving appetizers. Have your caterer stack a small cake stand on top of a larger one to increase your surface area for canapés or crudités and free up precious table space.
Reward: No waiting time for hors d’oeuvres.

Wedding shoes

Upgrade Basic White Shoes With Clip-on Earrings

Original purpose: The finishing touch when you played dress-up in Grandma’s closet.
Aha! use: Channel Grandma’s style and update plain white wedding shoes with a funky pair of clip-on earrings. Attach them to the shoes at the center (or slightly off center), and let your fancy footwork peek out from under your gown.
Reward: Bejeweled shoes that can change with your mood.

DIY Centerpiece Idea {Glass Jar Frames}

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Here is another spin-off of the bell jar-ish idea from the Design*Sponge blog! I think this might be my favorite idea yet! I am thinking you could use baby food jars (rinsed out of course, and fancied up however you wish) with each guests names in them for your escort table and then have a glass jar collage centerpiece with you and your fiancé’s favorite pictures on each table! FUN DIY project!!!

Ways I Saved When Planning My Wedding…

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

1. I sent electronic Save The Dates, instead of printed.

2. I planned our entire wedding so I did not hire a wedding coordinator (everything went off without a hitch, but I would still recommend a Day of Coordinator if it fits in your budget).

3. I used a free wedding website to keep everyone informed of wedding details.

4. I made DIY candied apple favors (a lot of work, but very rewarding).

5. Asked a few vendors if they were flexible in pricing (they were).

Wish Bowl…

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I saw these tickets and just think they are such a cute idea for a wish bowl…for a bridal shower or wedding! These are available at Room Service for only $10.00 per roll.

Cute Idea…

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

This is such a cute idea…especially for beach themed or near the beach weddings! As a favor, you fill a bucket with flip flops near the entrance or maybe by the dance floor. I know my feet were killing me at my wedding! I found this super cute bucket at Room Service Home. It is a little pricey at $58.00, but you could just use a few aluminum ones and make signs to match your color theme. Also, Michaels is having a sale on foam flip flops this week for only $1.00 each! I am loving this idea..

DIY Favor Idea…

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

We made chocolate carmel candied apples for our wedding favors! These were a DIY project which the night before the wedding, I was a little sorry I did, BUT I loved the way they looked day of and we got a ton of compliments on them. My mom and I love scrapbooking so we just bought some paper from Pineapple Scrapbooking in Vista and bought the scalloped punch machine at Michaels with one of their 40%-50% off coupons they have each week. I never went to Michaels more than when planning my wedding! I also got the ribbon, home-made stamps, bags and sticks for the apples and the birdcage you can see on the table at Michaels! I ordered the “Love is Sweet” custom stamp from Staples.com. Pictures below. Enjoy!
