I need help thinking of ideas for the ceremony and reception decor. I wanted to incorporate older scenes of romance...

I think that would be really cute if done right....try vintage wording and fonts like these:

i would think word bubbles and stars to express action....and lots of primary colors.

Maybe create one of the wood standee's with the head cut out, so your quests could stand behind, stick their head through the hole and voila! they are superman or batman or retro characters!
